For the Meatloaf
  • 1 pound Ground Beef can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs use gluten-free breadcrumbs for gluten-free option
  • 1/2 cup Milk non-dairy milk can be used for lactose-free option
  • 1 large Egg or substitute with a flax egg for vegan alternative
  • 1 small Onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce choose gluten-free if needed
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese can experiment with mozzarella or pepper jack
  • 24 ounces Frozen Tater Tots or homemade potato rounds
For Serving
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup or BBQ sauce as an alternative
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley optional garnish

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture into the greased baking dish and press it down evenly to form a uniform layer.
  4. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the meatloaf mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots and return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until melted.
  7. Allow the dish to rest for about 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
