Baking Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk in eggs and softened butter. Gradually add flour and salt until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Meanwhile, heat milk for custard in a saucepan. Whisk together sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla in a bowl.
  6. Slowly whisk in hot milk, return to saucepan, and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool.
  7. Punch down dough, divide into 12 pieces, and fill each with custard and chocolate chips.
  8. Place filled dough in greased muffin tin, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly in muffin tin for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
