Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a pie dish with a spelt crust.
- Blind bake the crust for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden and set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine apple butter, eggs, heavy cream, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Add in the cinnamon and nutmeg, blending until fully combined. The mixture should be creamy.
- Pour the filling into the cooled spelt crust and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 50-60 minutes.
- Once baked, cool to room temperature for about 1 hour and then refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
- Slice and serve, optionally topping with Maple Whipped Cream or ice cream.
