Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Marinate the Chicken by combining chicken thighs with vegetable oil, grated garlic, ginger, brown sugar, salt, and white pepper. Toss until well-coated and let sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for better flavor.
  2. Prepare the Spice Mix by mixing white pepper powder, salt, brown sugar, and five-spice powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Coat the Chicken by removing it from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Roll in cornstarch until thoroughly coated.
  4. Arrange in the Air Fryer by preheating to 350°F (176°C). Place chicken pieces in a single layer in the basket and lightly spray with oil.
  5. Cook the Chicken at 350°F for 10 minutes. Flip the pieces, spray with oil, increase temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Toss with Spice Mix and serve by transferring hot chicken to a bowl, tossing with the spice mix, garnishing with basil and hot peppers, and serving with lemon wedges.
