- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and diced onions. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and onions are translucent.
- Lower the heat and stir in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Mix well until heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray and pour the beef mixture into it, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown.
- Remove the casserole and sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top, then return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
