Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by bringing 2 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat, which should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the water is boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves or 2 tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for exactly 5 minutes.
- After steeping, carefully strain the tea mixture into a bowl or pitcher, discarding any tea leaves or bags.
- While the tea is still warm, whisk in 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1/4 cup of sugar until fully dissolved.
- Let the cocoa tea mixture cool to room temperature; this should take about 10 minutes and then chill for at least 30 minutes.
- When you're ready to serve, fill a tall glass with ice cubes halfway. Pour in 1 cup of your preferred milk, followed by the chilled cocoa tea mixture. Stir well.
- For the finishing touch, sprinkle some chocolate shavings or an extra dusting of cocoa powder on top before serving.
