- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Heat the whole milk in a saucepan until it’s almost boiling; mix in the very soft unsalted butter.
- Allow the mixture to cool to 115-120°F before adding flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and egg. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
- Mix the light brown sugar, spices, and very soft butter in a bowl to prepare the filling.
- Once risen, roll the dough into a 16 x 9-inch rectangle and spread the filling evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces. Arrange in the baking dish.
- Cover the shaped buns and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Bake for 18–20 minutes until lightly browned.
- Melt unsalted butter in a saucepan, add dark brown sugar, then whisk in heavy cream and pecans to prepare the topping.
- Pour the topping over the warm buns and serve immediately.
