  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced for aromatic depth; substitute with garlic powder if needed.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped, can be replaced with onion powder.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder; can be substituted with a flax egg for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup Barbecue Sauce Choose your favorite or try homemade.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste; consider smoked paprika for added depth.
For Serving
  • 4 Hamburger Buns Toasted for added crunch.
  • Toppings Options like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, or jalapeños.

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Mixing bowl
  • Burger Press

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, finely chopped onion, egg, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Set aside for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (375°F to 400°F). It should be ready when you can hold your hand above the grates for about 4 seconds.
  3. Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about ¾ inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center of each.
  4. Grill the patties on hot grill grates for 12-14 minutes, flipping halfway through. Brush with additional barbecue sauce in the last minute.
  5. Remove from grill and let rest for a couple of minutes. Serve patties on toasted hamburger buns with desired toppings.
