Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 170ºC (340ºF) and prepare three 20 cm (8-inch) round cake pans.
  2. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream sugar and lemon zest, then mix in softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, then add half of the sifted dry ingredients.
  5. Combine remaining ingredients, mixing on low speed until well incorporated.
  6. Evenly divide batter into prepared pans and bake for 20-23 minutes.
  7. Allow layers to cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. Sift powdered sugar and strawberry powder, then beat with room-temperature butter.
  2. Gradually incorporate dry mixture and milk until smooth.
  3. Assemble cake layers with frosting in between, apply a crumb coat, and refrigerate.
  4. Finish frosting the cake and decorate with fresh strawberries and lemon slices.
