  • Burger Rub A blend of garlic powder, paprika, and salt is recommended.
For the Bacon Jam
  • ½ lb Bacon Turkey bacon can be used for a leaner alternative.
  • ½ Onion Diced red onion adds extra depth.
  • 2 tbsp Pickled Jalapeños Substitute with fresh jalapeños for more heat.
  • 1 cup Grape Jelly Opt for no-sugar-added jelly for a healthier option.
  • ¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar Feel free to use rice vinegar if available.
  • ¼ cup Honey Maple syrup is a great vegan swap.
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar Coconut sugar offers a less processed alternative.
For the Toppings
  • American Cheese Substitute with provolone or cheddar for different flavor notes.
  • 1-2 tbsp Crunchy Peanut Butter Almond butter can be used for those with nut allergies.

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Skillet
  • Meat thermometer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by shaping the ground beef into four equal patties, each about 1/3 lb. Season both sides generously with your favorite burger rub. Place the patties on a plate and let them sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, approximately 6-8 minutes, then remove and let it drain on paper towels.
  3. Preserve 1 tablespoon of bacon fat in the skillet, then add diced onion. Sauté for 4-6 minutes until they become translucent and fragrant.
  4. To the skillet with the sautéed onion, add the crispy bacon, pickled jalapeños, grape jelly, apple cider vinegar, honey, and brown sugar. Stir and cook over low heat for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the seasoned patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they reach your desired doneness.
  6. After flipping the patties for the second time, move them to indirect heat. Place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty and close the grill lid.
  7. Spread crunchy peanut butter generously on the top bun. Place the cheese-topped burger patty on the bottom bun, followed by a heaping spoonful of the homemade bacon jam. Finish by placing the top bun over the jam.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite side, like sweet potato fries or a refreshing salad.
