  • 1 cup Sugar Brown sugar for deeper flavor
  • 8 oz Full-Fat Cream Cheese Can substitute with Neufchâtel cheese
  • 1 large Egg Chia or flax egg for vegan option
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Almond extract can also be used
  • 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Thawed

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Macerate the rhubarb by washing and dicing it, then tossing it with sugar and letting it sit for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the cream cheese filling by beating together cream cheese, egg, vanilla extract, and flour until smooth.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and slice into 4x4 inch squares.
  4. Assemble the twists by placing cream cheese mixture and rhubarb in the center of each pastry square, then twisting and shaping.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool the twists on a wire rack for 5–10 minutes before serving warm.
