Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas, then add melted butter, vanilla extract, eggs, and buttermilk, blending well.
  4. Combine the wet banana mixture with the dry ingredients using a spatula or a hand mixer on low speed until no dry flour remains.
  5. Pour the batter into the loaf pan, drizzle in caramel sauce, and swirl it through the batter gently.
  6. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool the bread in the pan for 15 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack, topping with sea salt and caramel sauce.
