- Slice a medium onion and place it at the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Place the beef roast on top of the onions and season with salt and black pepper.
- Pour the beef broth over the roast until it is halfway submerged, then add Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
- Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, and additional salt over the beef.
- Cover and cook on LOW for about 8 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
- Remove the beef and let it rest before shredding.
- Strain the broth to remove onion solids and set aside.
- Mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry and add to the strained broth.
- Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Serve shredded beef over bread and mashed potatoes, topped with gravy.
