Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 lb Ground Beef You can substitute with ground turkey or shrimp.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 medium Red Chili You can swap for jalapeño if desired.
  • 1 cup Thai Basil Substitute with sweet basil or mint if unavailable.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce Opt for gluten-free soy sauce if needed.
  • 1 tbsp Fish Sauce Can substitute with more soy sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar Honey or coconut sugar can be used as substitutes.
  • 1/2 tsp White Pepper Alternatively, use black pepper.
For Assembly
  • 8 sheets Rice Paper Wrappers Keep them dry and cool.
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Mint or Cilantro Use any combination of fresh herbs.
  • 1 cup Lettuce or Baby Spinach Optional for added crunch.
For Dipping Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Customize based on taste preferences.
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar Adjust quantity as desired.
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Flakes Leave out for a milder sauce.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Sauté garlic and red chili in sesame oil until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef, cook until browned and no pink remains.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and white pepper; cook until sauce thickens.
  4. Fold in chopped Thai basil; allow filling to cool.
  5. Set up a rolling station with warm water and a damp surface.
  6. Soak rice paper until pliable, then lay on damp surface.
  7. Layer filling, fresh herbs, and optional veggies in the center of rice paper.
  8. Roll up tightly, folding sides in to seal.
  9. Slice rolls in half for presentation.
  10. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and chili flakes for dipping sauce.
  11. Serve rolls with dipping sauce and garnish with herbs.

Notes
