Ingredients

For the Gooey Bars
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Use very soft butter for the best mixing results.
  • 1 box Strawberry Cake Mix No need to follow the cake mix instructions—just pour it in!
  • 1 large Egg Ensure it’s at room temperature for better incorporation.
  • 1 cup White Chocolate Chips Feel free to replace them with your favorite chocolate type.
  • 8 ounces Sweetened Condensed Milk Aim for about 8 ounces from a 14-ounce can for the right consistency.

Equipment

  • 9x9 inch baking pan
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving overhang for easy removal. Grease lightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the soft unsalted butter on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the strawberry cake mix and egg to the creamed butter. Stir with a spatula until a thick dough forms.
  4. Press half to two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan for a firm base.
  5. Sprinkle white chocolate chips evenly over the dough layer.
  6. Drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the white chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the top, covering most of the white chocolate chips.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 27 to 30 minutes until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  9. Remove from oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.
