Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, grated onion, and allspice. Mix well until just combined and shape into 1-inch meatballs. Chill on a baking sheet for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and brown the chilled meatballs for 5-7 minutes, turning until golden. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to create a roux. Gradually add broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and cream, simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Boil salted water in a large pot, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and return to pot. Add meatballs and sauce, combining well.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer pasta and meatball mixture to a greased baking dish, top with cheese if desired. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
