Cake Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your cake pans lightly with vegetable oil or line them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut milk, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for approximately 30 minutes.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Beat the vegan butter until creamy, then gradually add melted dark vegan chocolate and beat until smooth.
  8. Spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, then place the second layer on top and apply a thin coat of frosting over the entire cake.
  9. To make the ganache, melt dark vegan chocolate with coconut milk in a saucepan, stirring until smooth.
  10. Pour the warm ganache over the frosted cake, using a spatula to help it drip down the sides.
  11. Decorate the top of the cake with chocolate skulls or other fun decorations of your choice.

Notes

Allow each cake layer to cool completely before frosting to prevent the buttercream from melting and sliding off. Apply a thin layer of frosting over the cake before the final coat to seal in crumbs.
